Bee-L

Unread post by Countryboy »

BEE-L is taking over my life it seems. Just to see what happens, I have been moderating in real-time but that has to end. Discussion has been excellent and the speeding up pays off, except people are treating the list like Facebook with interjections.
Why?

It's not 1985 anymore.

Bee-L isn't really a list anymore. It's a forum. Only instead of being in a forum format, it's still formatted like a list. Are you a glutton for punishment?

Why not set up a forum for Bee-L on Bee-L.org (or ask everyone to start posting here) and let topics flow like a conversation? You won't have to approve every post, and conversations can flow in real time, rather than waiting on posts to be approved before anyone can respond.

BEE-L is available in forum format for those who wish. No one does it seems. People like the list.

If posting was open, it would be like BeeSource or maybe Facebook.

People have the option of posting here or on many other similar forums, but it seems the Big Guns like LISTSERV.

How do you access Bee-L in forum format?

No one accesses Bee-L in forum format because they like the list, or because they don't know about the forum format? I'd greatly prefer a forum format, but never knew it was possible.

Go to bee-l.org and see if you can figure it out. As an owner, everything looks different to me.

Okay. I logged out and checked.

Simply go to https://community.lsoft.com/scripts/wa- ... =1&TOC=&S=

That is the archive and you can post from there.

I went to the Settings, and then under the Archives tab, found there is an option for Forum View or Classic View. I set it to Forum View.

And nothing changed. I still see everything in list format, exactly the same as before.

Same here. It used to list the topics above the list and an option was to have that list the writers instead.

I must have jiggered some setting. I'll play some more.

I just looked at Bee-L and it is displaying more akin to a forum instead of the list format.

Yes, it works but not exactly what I was hoping for.

It would be nice if I could read multiple replies on the same page, instead of having to view each reply in a separate page. I find it annoying to have to either open each reply in a separate window, or else reading a comment and then having to back up a page and then click on a new comment to read it.

The forum view went away a couple days ago. It's back to the regular list view.

Yeah. I was playing with it and the results are not always what is expected.

I think you should have personal settings.
