Weather Stations

Unread post by Colino »

Happy New Year to all. After reading your diary entry about weather stations I thought I would share the web page below it gives a map of the network of traffic cam/weather towers around Alberta. We are fortunate to have a traffic cam tower 1/4 mile away which we figure is close enough for us, because it is so flat here that if you stand on an apple crate and look west you can see the back of your head. The 1st link is the web page the 2nd is our home weather tower. When planning road trips we always give it a quick look along our route because it not only gives weather but other info like road construction and closures. The information updates every 20 minutes so it's not exactly your current weather but sufficient for our needs.

Happy New Year.

Very interesting. You must have a good camera salesman (or a PC cabinet minister) nearby since it appears that you have more cameras per square metre than anywhere except the cities.

We don't have any around here to speak of. There is not one camera on all of Highway 21, but they dropped a few on Highway 9 for some reason. Oh, yes. I think the Three Hills district voted Wild Rose, so maybe things will change now that the rose has lost some of its thorns?

Oh, but the south was even more solidly WR, and the north end of 21 went PC, so what gives? Must be the salesman.

Oh, and what is an apple crate?

I'm not sure of the politics, but it's one of the things we have down here in the forgotten southeast corner of Alberta. Do you ever get the feeling that Albertan politicians think there are only 2 cities in Alberta, Calgary and Edmonton?
