The Diary

Unread post by Allen Dick » July 30th, 2016, 11:45 am

Hi folks,

As you may have noticed, I have been busy and postings have lapsed.

I intend to get back at it, but spend less time writing and more time doing.

My interest in bees has waned this year and I have been very lax. This may or may not change.

I notice that some are posting their experiences in the forum and this is appreciated.

Please feel free to start a diary thread of your own there and report your experiences, with pictures, too. I'll change the limitations on pictures and other restrictions if they prove problematic and you PM me.

Also note that you can subscribe to any thread or forum and thus be notified by email when there is new activity there,

Allen

For those who are interested, I finally have the diary back in shape. There are a few lapses and some likely tweaks, but it is back on track.

BTW, be sure to refresh the page if you get old content.

I have some bee pictures and story to add, but also have things to do today. Later...

For those who are interested, I finally have the diary back in shape, one more time.

I also fixed some forum issues that resulted from the last software updater.

I saw something had gone wonky but couldn't find a way (available to me) to fix it. I couldn't tell if it was a forum issue or a browser issue on my end- my FF has been doing some odd things since I last updated it, suddenly disabling add-ons because it claimed they 'weren't signed' even though they were. Now I can stop poking at the innards of FF.

It was the skin. The forum software was upgraded to 3.2, but the skins were not upgraded automatically.

At first, I was not sure what the issue was and since I received an error message with the forum upgrade, was afraid that tinkering might plunge things in to chaos at a time when I was away and very occupied.

The upgrade processes are not clearly explained and there is plenty of room to make assumptions that could turn out to be incorrect and fatal.

When I had some time to recover if things went wrong, I checked and upgraded all the skins to 3.2 and presto, problem solved. Seems the icons were moved to another location in the major upgrade, making the tools hard to identify. They still worked, but did not have icons.
