Interesting, but I am unsure of what practical use it is.

The real problem is the same as ever. Bees could adapt and become tolerant of varroa and of these viruses, but we keep bringing in "Better" stock and re-introducing vulnerabilities and new pathogens.

Now we want to come up with a treatment to deal with the problem we keep alive.

The cure? Ban sales and shipment of queens. In short order bees would adapt to locales and the best beekeepers would thrive. The poor beekeepers -- the ones who need replacements every year -- would soon be out of the game or have to re-stock from the successful operators.

Of course, that will never happen. Should it? Probably not.

Practical use is get mites controlled because no magic iRNA bullet is coming to save your sorry-ass hives!
Kill the vectoring agent, no need for special anti-virals.
This should be a wake-up call to all Beeks!
Go hard-Bond, or kill mites. Two choices, or be part of the problem. My personal view is that most hard-Bond Beeks ‘are the problem’. Mite bombs, late season, but just an opinion.
