A very well-written and well-researched synopsis of the situation.

Something that is mentioned, but needs emphasis is that at 43 degrees N, the K-W area of south-western Ontario is almost as far south as the northern tip of California (42 degrees N) and the seasons around K-W are almost two months longer than Central Alberta (52 degrees N).
