! If you are looking for bee information !

Bee-related posts are infrequent here lately, but at one time I was very involved. Just about every topic has been covered somewhere on this site some time or another. Best bets are: 1.) check back on today's date in various previous years 2.) visit the selected topics page 3.) search this site for keywords. 4.) visit bee-l.org

Today Periods of rain. Amount 5 to 10 mm. Wind becoming northeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 this morning then becoming northwest 20 gusting to 40 this afternoon. High 12. UV index 2 or low.
Tonight Periods of rain ending this evening then clearing. Fog patches developing overnight. Wind northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light this evening. Low plus 3 with risk of frost.

I woke up at five.  I wasn't sleepy, so I got up and went down to check on Mom.  She was sleeping in her recliner.  That was her habit until the recent pain episode kept her in bed, so it seems she is getting better. Roseanne will be here soon to get her up and do exercises.

Roseanne came and did their routine and Mom does seem better.  We'll see over the next week how much so.

Mitch came over for coffee at ten.    I made mushroom soup while we chatted. She left around eleven and Mom and I had lunch, then Mom had a nap and I caught a bit of sleep, too.  I had only slept about six hours last night.

At one-twenty, I drove Mom to the hairdresser and went shopping while I waited.  Walmart had some inexpensive flower baskets, so I picked up two and a potted tomato plant for the deck.

We returned to 1207 and I placed the flowers.  It was nice enough to sit on the deck so we went out to enjoy the day. Jacquie came over for a visit and she and Mom arranged a bridge game for next week.

We ate more of the chicken from yesterday for supper then Mom went to watch the news. I retreated upstairs and fussed over the diary, correcting and augmenting the entries of the past weeks, watched Rosewood and went to bed.

Today Mainly sunny. Fog patches early this morning. Wind becoming northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 this morning then light late this afternoon. High 22. UV index 7 or high.
Tonight A few clouds. Low plus 5.

My alarm woke me at 6 AM.

I don't recall setting it and that is the trouble with the Android alarm. It sometimes sets the alarm to be recurring on some random day of the week unless care is taken to check which boxes are checked when setting a new alarm. I discovered that for some reason it had decided to wake me at 6 on every Saturday and Sunday and did not show a notification last night as I would have expected.

I fixed that, but was now awake and I got up, weighed and went down to check on Mom.  She was sleeping peacefully in her bed.  She likes to get up before dawn and move to her recliner, but had not today.  I didn't disturb her.

I was tempted to go for a walk or even a run this morning.  That is most unlike me.  I'm not a runner, and I'm not sure that going from sleep to full activity is a wise thing to do.  It tends to take me a while to fully awaken and sometimes my mind is not sharp until I've been up for a while. Nonetheless, this urge to exercise first thing is something new and interesting.

People woken from a deep sleep sometimes do odd things.  When I am boating and underway, I do tend to get up and get going but I also test myself to make sure I am fully awake before doing anything serious. Other days, I often spend a half-hour or more reading and doing this diary.

Roseanne had talked about coming in at 0730, but didn't. She normally comes at eight.  I checked on Mom and she had a moved to the chair, so she is getting around better again. That is reassuring.  Roseanne came at eight.

The day is bright and sunny, but cool, at five degrees and the wind is from the east, promising rain before long. At home the forecast is for warm, sunny weather.

Roseanne came and they did their routine. At ten, Sharon and Mitch came for coffee and stayed until after eleven. Then I made lunch and it was nap time.

After that, I went to Bill's and we built a ramp for the electric wheelchairs that are expected to be delivered next week for trial.

I returned to 1207 in time to make supper, then spent the evening catching up on my preparations to finish the last several items on the instructors certification.

I watched some Rosewood and went to bed just before midnight.

Today Sunny. Becoming a mix of sun and cloud this morning. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. High 24. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight Mainly cloudy. 60 percent chance of showers overnight with risk of a thunderstorm. Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming southwest 30 gusting to 50 near midnight. Low 14.

I woke at seven and went down to see how Mom was doing.  She was sleeping in her chair as is her habit, so it seems she is better again.

We had coffee on the deck and she read until lunch.  I made chicken soup out of the remains of the chicken I bought several nights ago.

After lunch, I went to Bill's and built a ramp for the wheelchairs expected to arrive tomorrow.

I made supper at five-fifteen.

Today A mix of sun and cloud with 30 percent chance of showers. Risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Wind northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40. High 20. UV index 7 or high.
Tonight Partly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers this evening and risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing late this evening. Wind northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light near midnight. Low 6.

Sid knows a lot about these things as his wife spent every day in one, so he came over at nine-thirty to meet the wheelchair people.  However, it seems the times got mixed up since we did not write them down after Saudia called to set it up. Saudia and Cory didn't come until ten-thirty.  Sid had to be gone by then.

Frankly, I am finding one day runs in to another and it is hard to remember which day is which if I don't write it down here.  Sometimes I have to look at receipts and pictures I have taken to remember what happened on which day.

They brought two electric wheelchairs.

One was almost street legal with headlights, taillights, and a turn signals plus elevating ability and tilt and full recline. Valued at around (Yeah.  Really) $50K.

The other was a basic electric model and seemed more suitable as it was smaller, lighter and simpler and only (only?) $15K.  The government pays most of it apparently.  After trials, they left the smaller one for a three-day trial.

These chairs are amazing devices. Even the base model is able to go outside and down the street at quite a clip and handle dips and ramps without tipping.  They have a wide stance, spring loaded feeler wheels and the base weighs 350 lbs.

Today Becoming cloudy this morning. 30 percent chance of showers late this afternoon. Risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon. High 19. UV index 5 or moderate.
Tonight Partly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers this evening and risk of a thunderstorm. Clearing overnight. Wind west 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low 6.

As I say, the days run into one another.  I get up, do some reading and make meals and then go out or don't.

I slept badly last night.  For some reason, I slept an hour or two, then woke up, then that repeated.  I  was up for two hours around three, then went back to bed and slept, but fitfully.

This morning, though, I got a call from a client saying that he was being flooded by emails.  I asked him to send one and it seemed that somehow the web forms got into a loop or else the mailserver was hacked. 7,500 emails were queued to be sent, but the circuitbreakers tripped before that and suspended the domain.  The flood of incoming emails were automatic messages from servers complaining about incoming emails. I had to figure it out.  We ran scans and did not find anything, so changed the passwords and all is well, it seems.

I was tired and slept a bit and visited with Mom.  After supper I met Bill at Princess Auto to do some shopping, followed by the mandatory Walmart visit.

Today Sunny. Wind becoming south 20 km/h this afternoon. High 27. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight A few clouds. Wind southeast 20 km/h becoming light overnight. Low 10.

I was tired again today.  Maybe it is the doxycycline?  I got up a while and then lay down again and slept a bit more.  Then got up and spent the morning with Mom.  Mitch dropped over for a while.  Later another friend of Mom's came and took he for lunch then returned her home.

I spent the afternoon and evening at 1207. Just another day.

Today Sunny. Becoming a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. High 29. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight Partly cloudy. Becoming clear near midnight. Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light this evening. Low 12.

I slept a full eight hours and got up.  I was groggy but rested.

When I looked in, Mom was a asleep in her chair.  A while later she came down the hall to the kitchen, so she is pretty well back to normal.

No helpers are booked for today.  I take Mom for her hair appointment at eleven and the wheelchair folks come at three.

Now that Mom is better, I'm starting to think about getting home.  Maybe on the weekend.

We went to the hairdresser and then to Eddie's Sports bar for lunch.  She had not been there for a year or so, and Karen was happy to see her.

We returned to 1207.  She had a nap, then the neighbours came by and Saudia and Cory came to finish the arrangements for the new power chair.

Later, I drove to furniture stores to look at recliners and found some suitable for Mom's purposes.

Back at 1207, I had supper and did some reading, then watched video and went to bed.

215.4 6.2

Today A mix of sun and cloud. Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. High 30. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight Clear. Becoming partly cloudy overnight. Wind south 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light late this evening. Low 14.

I woke at seven and heard Mom downstairs.  She is getting around well now and is back to the previous normal, so my work here is done.

We'll order a recliner today and expect it to be delivered around noon.

I ordered the chair, then we had coffee on the deck and Mitch came over to visit.

We had lunch, then the chair arrived.  It reclines back and also tips forward and rises to put a person into a standing position.

Next, Jacquie came over and soon the other couple for bridge arrived.  They spent the afternoon playing bridge. Mom said she had good hands and came second, whatever that means.

My accountant finished the various tax forms and so I am spending time looking them over and making payments.  After supper, I'll be going to Bill's.

I had been planning to leave Sunday, but realise I should do my first aid while here, so may stay Monday and Tuesday to do that.

I decided against doing the first aid course this trip due to the need to get home, but did make a flight reservation for Monday afternoon.  I left enough time to to deal with exchanging the reclining chair if necessary.  We'll see.

215.2

Today Increasing cloudiness. 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms this afternoon. Wind becoming south 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. High 28. UV index 7 or high.
Tonight Cloudy. 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms early this evening. Wind south 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light near midnight. Low 12.

I'm up at 0700.  Mom was sleeping in her new chair so I went into the kitchen and made coffee.

Although she tried the chair when it arrived, the movers were standing there and she just verified it went back and stood up as expected.  She did not sit in it long enough to decide if it is comfortable for her until later and last night after being in it a while she decided it is not.  She depends on her recliner in the mornings, after lunch, and evenings so she is giving it another shot but if it is not suitable, it has to go back.

Sharon and Mitch are coming for coffee at ten and Sharon is putting in her docks this afternoon.  Bill is off to camp to put in his docks.

Looking at the new forecast for Swalwell, I am wondering if I am making a mistake going home instead of taking the first aid course.  I see rain is expected in Swalwell, making lawn mowing difficult.  Other forecasts for the same area and time differ, though.  Who can trust a forecast?

I called John, the salesman at Roy's and they will exchange the chair.  They are open today and tomorrow, so I should be able to get it done.

Sharon and Mitch came by for coffee and Mrs. Van Exen dropped in, too.

After lunch, Mitch's dock crew showed up and I went over to help.  It was a bit of a gong show, but by late afternoon the docks were in place as she had planned.  They ordered pizza and I took some to Mom.  That was supper.

After supper, I went to the four corners to look at plants, but the outdoor shop was closed. I went to Walmart and got a few things and went back to 1207.
