Today Snow ending late this morning then clearing. Local amount 2 to 4 cm. High minus 9.
Tonight Clear. Increasing cloudiness before morning. Low minus 16.

Alberta has been getting colder, but here, in Sudbury, the weather has just warmed up. At home we got a little snow overnight, but not much.  There is a fair bit on the ground here in Sudbury.  Lake Ramsey is frozen over, but still unsafe for walking, skiing or vehicles.

I'm feeling very light-headed and achy today.  I'm assuming it is the flu.  I seem okay otherwise, but my exercise for the day consisted of walking up and downstairs a few times and walking out the driveway to get the trash cans.

I was too tired and addled to do much, so I spent the afternoon watching video.

First Day of Winter

I'm a bit better today, but still laying low.  I'll do some reading and deskwork.

Weight 214.8, BG is 6.7, BP is 138/76.  The bug is affecting my readings

I spent the day reading and sleeping.  I think I may be coming down with another cold.

Sure enough, I became more congested and tired.  I slept a lot.

December 22nd & December 23rd 2017

The days passed as Christmas approached.  I was congested, ill, and not at all inspired.  The weather was fairly mild and occasionally I went out to do a little grocery shopping, but mostly I slept and watched video. I did not have the energy or inspiration to do any gift shopping.

Compulsory and lavish gift giving is a custom I detest at best of times.  If I see something I think I should give someone, I buy it and give it. Otherwise, the whole idea runs against my grain.

Christmas Day

I was a bit better today.  I visited, rested and packed.  My shuttle came by at 1630 and I was at YSB in plenty of time for my flight.

The flight was late leaving and stopped to de-ice and then fiddled around refueling.

I knew had a short change at YYZ and as we taxied in, I saw my Edmonton flight taxiing out.

Westjet had rebooked m on the next YEG flight out and I arrived at YEG around two Am, several hours after my original ETA. I found my van sitting under snow in the lot and turned the key, Even at minus thirty-two C, it fired right up, complaining loudly.

I headed south slowly until the mechanisms warmed and then proceeded to Orams at 120 KPH.  The roads were good and traffic light.

I woke the dog going in and, roused by the barking, Jean greeted me.   We talked a bit and I went down to my den and slept.

December 31st 2017
New Years Eve

Today Sunny. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 27. Extreme wind chill minus 46.
Tonight Clear. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 35. Extreme wind chill minus 44.

I invited friends over for supper and suggested arriving at four.  Due to the the extreme cold weather -- it was minus thirty-six here -- I assumed no one would want to be driving too late in the evening.  Some came sixty miles.  None of us bother staying up until midnight anymore.

I spent the day cooking a turkey and generally tidying. I had invited ten, but one group was no-show, but we were a good group and made short work of the meal.

Everyone left around eight.  I had more leftovers than I could eat in a week and sent the extras home with others.

I cleaned up the food, loaded the dishwasher, and went to bed early.

Happy new Year!
